Martin/Martin, Inc. is seeking a licensed, experienced Structural Engineer with a demonstrated history of project management experience to join our growing team in San Mateo, California.

This role offers the chance to work on structural design projects both nationally and internationally across diverse markets such as healthcare, commercial, office, sports, entertainment, and education. While many of our projects are located in California, Martin/Martin’s national footprint provides opportunities to work on projects around the country.

The Team

Our structural engineering teams provide custom solutions for new constructions and expansions both in California and nationally, with a strong record in notable projects like Coors Field, the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, and Harborcenter.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage engineering and technician staff to successfully complete projects
  • Build relationships with the project team and serve as the primary point-of-contact for clients and contractors throughout the design and construction phases
  • Develop, monitor, and manage project work plans, schedules, and design budgets
  • Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC plans
  • Act as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff, assisting with their career development
  • Take an active role in representing the firm in business development pursuits

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum
  • 9 years progressive engineering experience (1 year of professional experience equivalencies include a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering, OR passing the 16-hour NCEES structural engineering exam)
  • Minimum 3 years of prior experience with high seismic engineering focused work
  • Current California SE licensure or ability to obtain specific SE licensure within the state of California within 1 year
  • Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to work in the San Mateo area (relocation reimbursement may be provided, depending on the role and job function)
  • Demonstrates ability to be in responsible charge of projects
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities beneficial to the company’s future

Working Conditions

This position is primarily technical in nature and requires working inside and outside the office to complete a wide range of activities. The following abilities are required:

  • Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
  • Carry, ascend, and descend a ladder
  • Identify color
  • Read, communicate, and document in English
  • Determine and exchange accurate information
  • Occasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

Pay

The wage range for this role considers a wide range of factors including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. For individuals hired in California, a reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $140,000 to $162,000 annually.

  • Base Salary Review: Eligible to participate in Martin/Martin’s annual base salary increase review process
  • Annual Bonus: Eligible to participate in a discretionary annual bonus program (dependent on job-level and annual company performance)
