Senior Project Engineer - Roadway Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead or support the planning, design, and delivery of a wide range of roadway and transportation infrastructure projects
• Prepare engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports for public agency projects
• Develop roadway geometric designs, grading plans, striping plans, signing plans, and traffic control concepts
• Cookordination with internal disciplines including traffic engineering, drainage, utility coordination, environmental, right-of-way, and construction support teams
• Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, and agency coordination efforts
• Assist with project schedule management, budget tracking, and quality control reviews
• Support proposal development, technical approaches, and scope preparation for transportation pursuits
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• 5 to 10 years of professional experience in roadway design
• Strong working knowledge of: AASHTO Green Book, Caltrans Highway Design Manual (HDM), California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD)
• Proficiency with roadway design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced consulting environment
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required, Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred

Physical Demands

• Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse
• Occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations

Work Conditions

• Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting
• Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required

Benefits

• The typical base salary range for this position is $103,000.00 - $142,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
