Responsibilities
- Support the construction/ operational team for surface and underground work.
- Oversight of the engineering design progression.
- Coordination of the procurement of all items relating to scope.
- Ensuring the items are on site when required and that the teams are aligned with any quality control required during the construction phase.
- Manage, schedule and be ultimately responsible for timely and accurate survey of surface infrastructure and underground Mine Development.
- Support the package lifecycle, in a cradle to grave arrangement, - review of drawings, through procurement and through final construction sign offs.
- Recommend design or method improvements in a continuous effort to improve safety and productivity via engineering interface meetings and in the reviewal of drawings.
- Work with design engineers in the corporate offices, ensuring all construction drawings are received on time and review these drawings by making any required changes.
- Ensure that adequate measures are put in place to remedy any defects or deficiencies in engineering design, fabrication or construction execution.
- Maintain at site a complete set of standards, specifications, and drawings to ensure designs and works are completed in line with industry and Project specific standards/ regulations.
- Develop work packages to enable scope clarification and coordinate with procurement to support the tender-award process.
- Scope of work generation and compiling of procurement packages (drawings, specifications, etc).
- Ensure packages are managed in a way to ensure the completion of high-quality works, that meet the Project’s budget and schedule.
- This includes vendor/ contractor interface management.
- Provide schedule updates and ensure packages are on time.
- Work closely with the Project Manager / Project Superintendent to ensure all requirements to execute the work are available and supported in a timely manner.
- Coverage of multi-discipline efforts for timely preparation, evaluation, and recommendation of sub-contract packages, including direct responsibility for preparation of Scope of Work and other Tender Schedules.
- Oversee change management and provide breakdowns of commercial financial changes, for approval by management.
- Provide support in writing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) and the coordination with operational/ construction team on safe and high-quality methodologies.
- Provide support during construction/ operations with technical issues and involvement of developing efficient and safe working procedures.
- Provide support during quality and commissioning phases of the package.
- Active role in safety management on site.
- Provide input for weekly and monthly reports (as required).
- Aid in the mentoring of junior team members.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Ability to perform as Qualifying Party for the Arizona Contractor's License.
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in engineering (or similar/ relevant experience).
- 10+ years of experience working in the mining construction industry.
- MSHA CFR 30 Part 48 Underground experienced miner qualified.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including client/ contractor management and interface.
- Experience in schedule and budget oversight.
- Demonstrated understanding of design engineering codes, technical standards and regulations (Desirable).
- Experience in EPCM project environment (Desirable).
- Experience with Earned Value Reporting.
- Ability to work closely with the design/site engineering team and interface with the Project Manager.
- Ability to function with minimal supervision; self-derived work and development.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to produce detailed reports covering inspection findings.
- Capable of being approved as an employee possessor under ATF.
- AutoCAD skills and experience transferring data to and from a Total Station.
- Experience using planning software (Microsoft Project or Primavera P6).
