Senior Project Engineer - Drainage

About the Role
As a Stormwater Engineer at RK&K, you will support local and statewide efforts in stormwater management and drainage design with an emphasis on scour, hydrology, and hydraulics for transportation-related projects. You will be responsible for the planning, designing, and implementation of effective drainage systems to ensure efficient conveyance and management of stormwater.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver industry-leading stormwater management strategies for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines
- Conduct drainage design activities, including the analysis of existing drainage systems, designing new drainage systems and ditches, and creating appropriate plans
- Utilize hydraulic modeling software such as ICPR4, SWMM, and HEC-RAS
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations related to drainage design and stormwater management
- Prepare permit sketches, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates as needed
- Perform scour analysis
- Perform field investigations to collect data, take field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verifying surveys
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
- Eight (8) years of experience as a Civil Engineer supporting transportation projects
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Florida
- Advanced knowledge of drainage design, H&H modeling, and stormwater management
- Proficient with industry software: MicroStation, HEC-RAS, Civil3D, ICPR, FDOT Connect/OpenRoads Designer
- Experience supporting Florida Department of Transportation and other local Florida agencies
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
