Senior Project Engineer - Drainage

About the role

Support local and statewide efforts in stormwater management and drainage design with an emphasis on scour, hydrology, and hydraulics for transportation-related projects in Lakeland or Tampa, Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver industry-leading stormwater management strategies for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct drainage design activities, including analysis of existing drainage systems, design of new drainage systems and ditches, and creation of appropriate plans.
  • Utilize hydraulic modeling software such as ICPR4, SWMM, and HEC-RAS.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations related to drainage design and stormwater management.
  • Prepare permit sketches, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates as needed.
  • Perform scour analysis.
  • Perform field investigations to collect data, take field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verify surveys.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience as a Civil Engineer supporting transportation projects.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Florida.
  • Advanced knowledge of drainage design, hydrology & hydraulics (H&H) modeling, and stormwater management.
  • Proficient with industry software: MicroStation, HEC-RAS, Civil3D, ICPR, FDOT Connect/OpenRoads Designer.
  • Experience supporting Florida Department of Transportation and other local Florida agencies.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
