Contributes to the successful design, fabrication, and installation of architectural and structural building systems. Works as part of an integrated team within a specific business unit, applying engineering, project management, problem-solving, and communication skills across all levels and disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with staff, projects, and proprietary information.
- Advanced activities pertaining to the Design Phase, including submittal drawings, design approvals, reinforcement drawings, and miscellaneous metal drawings.
- Oversee manufacture-related activities in the Production Phase, including providing complete shop drawings, ensuring purchase of all required materials, maintaining a casting schedule, and performing quality checks.
- Oversee field-related activities in the Erection Phase, including preparing crane studies, rigging diagrams, coordinating shipping and field manpower requirements while ensuring erection quality and performance to plan and budget.
- Project management and document control tactics, including issue identification and resolution, coordinating requested procedure submittals, escalating issues as necessary, and monitoring contract specifications, budget, and time commitments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Interfaces
- Internal: Engineering, Manufacturing (including Procurement and Quality Control), Field, Finance, and Accounting.
- External: Owners, Architects, Contractors, and construction site personnel at all levels.
Skills
- Ability to deliver assigned project deliverables to plan (schedule, cost, and quality).
- Mastery of all aspects of the Project Engineer position, with proven ability to lead multiple Project Engineers on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to provide training to multiple Project Engineers.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as effective listening and engagement with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to build strong relationships and engage and motivate teams representing diverse backgrounds and viewpoints; exceptionally collaborative.
- Ability to maintain attentiveness to detail and accuracy across multiple projects without losing sight of goals and deadlines.
- Excellent organization skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders and interests.
- Problem-solving skills that aim to remedy and prevent reoccurrence.
- Comfortable escalating issues while maintaining positive relationships with team members and other organizations.

- Strong proven ability to read plans, specifications, and blueprints.
- Advanced mathematical skills and ability to visualize in 3D.
- CAD proficiency and ability to quickly draw engineering sketches.
- Able to exercise appropriate discretion when handling confidential and/or sensitive information.
- Willingness and interest in stepping up into a larger role if the situation requires or the opportunity presents itself.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Work Environment
- General office environment.
- Periodic exposure to manufacturing environments with hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery.
- Periodic exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold, extreme heat, wet, and/or humid environments.
Physical Demands
- Frequent: Sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones, standing, and walking.
- Periodic: Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.
- Occasional: Business travel (50% or more) and/or temporary relocation, bending, squatting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience as a successful Project Engineer.
- BS in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering-related degree.
- EIT certification preferred.

Pay
$95,000 - $120,000 depending on experience.
