Senior Project Engineer
About the role
The Vessel Senior Project Engineer (Sr. PE) is an experienced project engineering professional responsible for applying knowledge in Marine Operations and Pipeline Installation to serve as a Pipelay Lead for vessels, bids, and projects. The Sr. PE functionally reports to the vessel Marine Operations Manager but works within project and bid teams as assigned. The Sr. PE interfaces with the Project Installation Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Project Engineering Managers, and other discipline leads to drive continual improvement through the implementation of Lessons Learned and ensure the pipelay scope is planned and executed in alignment with the vessel capabilities and limitations.
Responsibilities
- Have a well-rounded and deep understanding of offshore pipelay and pipe production operations (Welding, NDT, Field Joint Coating), installation analysis, subsea structure designs, rigging practices, and demonstrate project engineering capability to serve as a scope lead for a smaller team of approximately 2-5 other Project Engineers
- Be comfortable guiding and teaching junior engineers and have experience coordinating and guiding the works of others to deliver the project scope on time and under budget
- Operate independently with minimal guidance from the SPDT Marine Operations Director on a day-to-day basis but maintain regular communications and collaboration to align schedule and execution methodology
- Be responsible for overall readiness and execution of the scope assigned, ensure all Lessons Learned are implemented on the bid/project as applicable, understand and be accountable for delegated scope budgets, provide inputs into the schedule, and ensure offshore performance targets are achieved
- Be a Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (QHSES) Leader for the JLV Amazon team and reinforce this mindset for the scope execution across all team members
- Coordinate and review inputs from the various Engineering disciplines, functional departments, and sub-contractors contributing to the Engineering portion of a project
- Support management of the Engineering portion of the project as directed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or project management
- 5-8 years of engineering discipline experience with a major contractor or consultant in an office, primarily performing detail engineering
- Good knowledge of discipline design techniques, analysis methods, and general workflow
- Possess a registered professional engineer or membership in a professional engineering society
