Senior Project Engineer
IPEX is a leading North American provider of advanced plastic piping systems, dedicated to shaping a better tomorrow by connecting people with water and energy. This role is based at our plant in Pineville, North Carolina and reports to the Project Engineering Manager.
About the role
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead and support capital expenditure (CapEx) projects across multiple IPEX manufacturing locations throughout the United States. Working closely with operations, maintenance, quality, health and safety, and logistics teams, you will drive projects from concept through implementation, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget. This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to support operational excellence and business growth across the organization. Travel requirement: up to 30%.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex engineering and capital projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeline.
- Manage project resources, contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and business goals.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and operational efficiency through innovative engineering solutions and best practices.
- Collaborate with plant and corporate stakeholders to develop project strategies that align with operational requirements and organizational priorities.
- Identify, evaluate, and resolve technical and engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review engineering designs, specifications, and construction documentation to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring project success.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s in Engineering; PMP certification is an asset.
- More than 5 years of progressive experience in engineering, in a manufacturing environment or related industry.
- Knowledge of extrusion and plastic molding equipment is an asset.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead and influence both internal and external project teams.
- Adaptable and highly motivated, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment.
- Good knowledge of software such as AutoCAD and the Office suite.
- General knowledge of mechanical concepts, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
