About the Role
A global leader in process manufacturing is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives within a complex production environment. This role oversees projects from concept through startup, partnering with operations, maintenance, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful execution. It plays a critical part in improving safety, reliability, productivity, and long-term operational performance while supporting future growth initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead capital, infrastructure, and process improvement projects from conception through completion.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining alignment with business priorities.
- Coordinate engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Monitor project performance and mitigate risks related to budget, schedule, and execution.
- Provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes, equipment, and utility systems.
- Support process optimization efforts focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Lead engineering reviews, hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and engineering standards.
- Develop capital expenditure requests, project cost estimates, and financial justifications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and external engineering partners to achieve project objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of engineering experience within chemical, petrochemical, specialty chemical, polymer, or other process manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record leading capital projects from design through startup and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, industrial equipment, utilities, PFDs, P&IDs, and project management principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM), MOC, hazard analysis, capital budgeting, and continuous improvement methodologies.
