About the Role
DPR Construction is seeking a senior project engineer with commercial construction experience to work on projects within our core markets: advanced technology, commercial, healthcare, higher education, and life sciences. You will collaborate closely with all members of the project team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in and apply DPR’s environmental health and safety plan to maintain injury-free environments, including performing weekly safety audits.
- Mentor, develop, and train team members for fast-paced growth.
- Manage other project engineer team members.
- Understand and enforce contracts, including those between DPR and subcontractors as well as DPR and the owner.
- Assist the superintendent and project manager in implementing DPR policies and executing the project.
- Organize the duties of engineers, field office coordinators, project accountants, and other assigned project staff, including providing direction, prioritization, and performance feedback.
- Participate in trainings and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
- Organize and electronically archive project files for easy access by the project team.
- Prepare, monitor, and update project schedules, working with the superintendent to address project constraints.
- Prepare, maintain, and implement document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs.
- Distribute new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other project information to all affected parties.
- Identify, assemble, negotiate, and distribute change orders to both the owner and subcontractors.
- Prepare agendas, documents, meeting minutes, and actions for various meetings, including owner/architect/contractor, subcontractor coordination, safety, and staff meetings.
- Participate in project cost control, including maintaining internal records and working with subcontractors to ensure changes are paid.
- Prepare owner billing by assembling DPR costs, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and organizing documents in accordance with the owner’s requirements.
Requirements
- Organized work approach with the ability to adapt and adjust to support project needs.
- Detailed knowledge of assigned project scopes with a hands-on approach.
- Desire to seek out and resolve construction problems/conflicts during design and construction phases.
- Goal-oriented approach to promptly coordinate and resolve project issues within the project team, including interfacing with designers, engineers, and owners.
- Excellent listening and strong communication skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Effective participation in a team environment.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (CMiC, Prolog or similar), scheduling software (Primavera or similar), and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or similar).
- 5+ years of experience as a project engineer, preferably within DPR’s core markets.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Strong work ethic, a “can-do” attitude, and a passion for construction.

Pay
Anticipated starting pay range: $115,000.00–$125,000.00.
