Senior Project Engineer
About the role
The Senior Project Engineer owns planning and execution for CNH's embedded controls software organization, working with multiple teams of engineers delivering parallel software releases for a single product line. This role sets the standard for how software programs are planned, tracked, and delivered at CNH, while working within the company's agile framework. The Senior Project Engineer acts as a trusted partner to engineering leadership, driving strategic improvements to how the organization plans capacity, manages risk, and reports on progress. In addition, the role is responsible for hardware logistics and test bench maintenance that keeps the engineering organization productive day to day.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, own, and continuously evolve the SAFe or Agile framework used across the team, including sprint planning, PI planning, and ceremony facilitation
- Develop and maintain integrated software release plans, schedules, and milestone tracking across multiple parallel releases within the product line
- Lead gate reviews and milestone sign-offs, ensuring deliverables meet entry and exit criteria before progressing
- Support resource planning with engineering leadership and capacity forecasting across teams, identifying staffing gaps and rebalancing workload as priorities shift
- Track program budgets and report cost performance to engineering leadership on a regular cadence
- Build and maintain Jira dashboards that surface software quality metrics, release health, and KPIs for the team and leadership
- Lead software quality improvement initiatives, applying lean and process improvement methodologies to remove waste and tighten cycle times
- Cross-functional activities with global engineering centers, suppliers, and other internal groups across multiple time zones

- Own hardware logistics for the team, including ordering, receiving, inventory management, and allocation of controllers, sensors, and related components
- Maintain test benches in a working state through scheduled upkeep, configuration management, and coordination of repairs or upgrades as needed
- Communicate program status, risks, and mitigation plans to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, up to and including executive audiences
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software or related Engineering field
- 7 or more years of experience in program management, technical project management, or a similar engineering leadership role supporting embedded software development
- Demonstrated technical fluency in embedded systems concepts, sufficient to engage credibly with software, controls, and hardware engineers
- Prior experience in the agriculture or construction equipment industry
- Proven track record leading large, multi-team programs with parallel release trains
- Hands-on experience with Jira for defect tracking, sprint management, and dashboard creation
- Experience with Polarion or a comparable requirements management tool
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar planning and scheduling tools
- Working knowledge of process improvement and lean methodologies, with examples of applying them at scale to engineering workflows
- Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies at the team and program level, including PI planning
- Track record of managing schedules, budgets, and risks across multiple parallel workstreams with executive visibility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, supply chain, supplier, and leadership stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or MBA
- Prior experience in the agriculture or construction equipment industry
- PMP, Certified Scrum Master, SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), or other advanced Agile certifications
- Experience implementing or scaling SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) across multiple teams
- Deep familiarity with the embedded software development lifecycle, from requirements through validation and release
- Hands-on experience with lab or test bench instrumentation, including setup, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Experience building Power BI dashboards or similar reporting tools for engineering metrics
- Prior experience mentoring or leading a team of project or program managers
Pay
The annual salary for this role is $106,725 - $163,645 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.) For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
