Senior Project Engineer

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Ashland Specialty Ingredients business at our Calvert City, KY location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

• Manage 7+ concurrent capital projects valued up to $1MM, overseeing scope, budget, schedule, and execution from concept through startup.
• Analyze operational issues, develop project scopes, estimate costs, and evaluate feasibility to support sound investment decisions.
• Prepare Authority for Expenditures, write contractor bid packages, and issue material requisitions.
• Manage outside engineering services and supervise construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
• Monitor project costs and timelines to achieve budget targets and meet project milestones.
• Lead projects across processing operations and plant infrastructure, assisting with startups and handoffs to operations teams.
• Apply corporate and plant standards, along with applicable engineering codes, to the design of equipment and systems.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years in Project Engineering or Project Construction in an industrial environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times.
• Ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions, and creating the new and different.

Skills

The following skill sets are preferred:

• CAD software
• Familiarity with ASME, API, PSM, CMMS systems, and cGMP
• Project Management certifications
