Responsibilities
- Develops effective plans for constructing the project, providing input to determine the means and methods necessary (including individual work activities) to meet project goals.
- Maintains and updates the project schedule throughout the duration of the project, which may include resource- and/or cost-loading.
- Reviews and interprets drawings, specifications, and technical information and disseminates to the Project Team, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design details.
- Researches and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, and other issues.
- Prepares field design change requisitions as required; generates requests for information (RFIs).
- Reviews all shop drawings, design drawings, calculations, and submitted technical data for accuracy and conformance to specifications and constructability.
- Reads and understands elements of all required/applicable contracts.
- Acts as the Allan Myers authority on contract between the owner and Allan Myers, in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Identifies potential safety issues and coordinates with Estimators to ensure the budget addresses these issues.
- Ensures all required purchase orders and subcontracts are finalized in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Maintains subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with all provisions and requirements of the contract with Allan Myers.
- Maintains excellent customer satisfaction levels and addresses client concerns as appropriate.
- Ensures all correspondence, submittals, shop drawings, billings, etc., are produced with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Seeks better, faster, and safer methods to perform work.
- Demonstrates Allan Myers Leadership qualities, including being proactive, accountable, discerning, innovative, collaborative, integrity-based, successful, and balanced.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a construction management (estimating, operations, and/or engineering) role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related major, or equivalent required.
- Continuing education in construction is highly desirable.
- OSHA 30 hour required.
- DOT experience is a plus.
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) and PE (Professional Engineer) certification desirable.
- Working knowledge of contract administration systems, job cost management, change order management, labor & equipment reporting, planning, and scheduling, preconstruction planning, safety policies and procedures, safe work procedures.
