About the role

CPH is a multi-disciplined Engineering and Architectural design firm that ranks in the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms by ENR Magazine. The Senior Project Designer plays an essential role in supporting a wide range of land-development projects. This position works under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer to deliver key client deliverables for large commercial developments, with a primary focus on heavy grading, utility layout, and design.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate presentation, design, and construction documents using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the project team, including engineers, architects, designers, consultants, and clients.
  • Interpret relevant codes, regulations, and client requirements to guide the design process.
  • Implement and utilize established CAD standards, templates, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Calculate quantities, areas, and other essential data necessary for land-development civil-engineering designs.
  • Travel periodically to perform site investigations, take measurements, and observe construction progress; prepare detailed reports and exhibits.
  • Assist in compiling construction plans from all disciplines and ensure timely submission to agencies with jurisdiction.
  • Develop detailed technical drawings and designs, calculate material quantities, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Expert-level skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; proficiency in Adobe Suite and drafting techniques.
  • Advanced-level experience in grading, utility layout, and design.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience in commercial, retail, restaurant, and industrial projects is a plus.
  • Adaptable and receptive to instruction from others.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, quality-conscious, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or Computer-Aided Design Certificate.
