Senior Project Designer

• Responsible for leading and owning the design execution of complex medium and large-sized projects.
• Partner with technical and management leaders to execute the project, coordinate resources and integrate inputs from project inception to completion.
• Lead design execution across multiple project phases, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design and design development.
• Produce design and presentation documents.
• Participate in client design presentations.
• Collaborate with the technical lead and engineers early and often to inform design outcomes.
• Accountable for delivering project scope in alignment with the fee, schedule and construction cost in collaboration with the project manager and the project technical lead.
• Provide guidance in the construction documentation phase to ensure design intent.
• Develop planning concepts as applicable to the discipline:
• Interiors: conceptual planning, spacing planning, building restacking
• Architecture: conceptual planning, site planning
• Coordinate project team for specifications and material selections required for construction.
• Coordinate material location documentation (elevations, finish plans, etc.) for interior projects.
• Assist in managing client expectations and consultant coordination.
• Participate in project budget management and cost control methods.
• Act as a resource to studios and project teams with a voice crossing the spectrum of design support, mentorship and education.
• Be a resource for resolving complex design issues and provide oversight and guidance to studios and project teams.
• Identify, mentor and elevate current and future leaders.
• Continuously work to promote Vocon, while fostering existing and new relationships with clients.

Capabilities

• Specialized strength in design execution, knowledge of the full design process, competent in all conventional aspects of interior design and/or architecture.
• Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development.
• Ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management and staff.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Knowledge of the full design process.
• Strong project and people management skills.
• Proficiency in REVIT, Enscape, Bluebeam, Newforma, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office and other applicable programs.
• Possess BIM modeling skills.
• Required: Degree in architecture or interior design from an accredited University.
• NCIDQ Certification required for interior design professionals.
• LEED and/or WELL credentials are a plus.
• Experience: Design professional with (typically) eight (8) to twelve (12) plus years of experience in commercial interior design and/or architecture.
