About the role
CDM Smith is a multi-discipline engineering and architectural firm responsible for large-scale water and wastewater plant design, transit facilities, industrial facilities, office space design, federal facilities, facility planning and condition assessment work. As a Senior Project Architect specializing in transit facilities, you will join a growing multidisciplinary team of technical experts working on challenging projects in the transportation business portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and work with junior staff to plan, program, and formulate building design and prepare design presentation and construction contract documents.
- Develop building design criteria directly with clients.
- Lead preparation of presentation materials and make presentations.
- Lead development and coordination of building design and construction contract documents with architectural and multi-discipline engineering staff.
- Lead and mentor project architects and junior architectural staff on multi-discipline projects.
- Determine construction materials, technologies and methodologies for detailing.
- Prepare and edit technical specifications.
- Confirm compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations, including coordination with agencies having jurisdiction.
- Serve as Quality Control and independent reviewer for other architects' work.
- Lead development of project budgets and schedules, both internal and external.
- Monitor projects through close out.
- Support sales, meet with clients, and serve as a Project Technical Lead for Architectural driven projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
- Must possess RA certification.
- 10 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Expert technical knowledge and design application knowledge.
- Expert knowledge of technologies and methodologies in the use of construction materials.
- Expert knowledge of Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), preferably AutoCAD and Revit.
- Familiarity with modeling and rendering software programs.
- Expert knowledge of basic business office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Skills & Abilities
- Subject matter expertise in planning, design, and construction oversight of transit facilities served by rail, light rail, and bus rapid transit.
- NCARB Certificate for reciprocity.
- Experience signing and sealing project documents.
- Project Manager experience, or PMP (PMI) certification.
Preferred Qualifications

Pay
Min USD $105,227.00
Max USD $184,142.00
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
