Job Summary
TYLin is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Architect to lead the planning and design of transit facilities across the Chicago region and broader Midwest. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-profile infrastructure projects including passenger stations, maintenance facilities, rail yards, and other critical transit-supporting assets for agencies such as CTA, Metra, Amtrak, and related regional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead architectural design and documentation for transit facilities including stations, support buildings, and yard/maintenance facilities.
- Cook up coordination across disciplines (structural, MEP, civil) and collaboration with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage subconsultants and internal design teams, ensuring timely, coordinated, and technically sound deliverables.
- Interpret and implement client standards, local codes, and agency requirements (CTA, Metra, Amtrak, and municipal authorities).
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagement processes.
- Oversee design production from conceptual design through construction documents and construction administration.
- Provide QA/QC oversight for architectural deliverables.
Qualifications
- Registered Architect (RA) in Illinois (or ability to obtain via reciprocity).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- Minimum 10 years of architectural experience, with a strong focus on transit, transportation, or public infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience working with major transit or transportation agencies (e.g., CTA, Metra, Amtrak, DOTs) on stations, yards, or maintenance facilities.
- Strong understanding of applicable Chicago and Illinois building codes, ADA requirements, NFPA standards, and transit agency design guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience in technical design, documentation, and construction-phase services.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with 3D visualization tools is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with federally funded projects and familiarity with FTA requirements.
- Previous involvement in Design-Build or alternative delivery projects.
- LEED accreditation or a strong interest in sustainable and resilient infrastructure design.
