Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, is seeking a full-time Senior Project Architect / Project Manager for our San Diego, CA office. This role primarily leads project teams delivering architectural services for federal defense and/or aviation projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects, lead, and coordinate multi-disciplinary in-house and sub-consultant team members.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and work closely with contractor/developer design-build partners.
- Schedule and facilitate team meetings.
- Develop and deliver presentations to clients, partners, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Prepare contract documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Design structures in accordance with environmental, safety, or other regulations.
- Serve as a project architect on complex projects.
- Mentor junior architectural staff and act as a lead technical resource.
- Visit project sites to monitor construction progress and handle construction administration.
- Attend client meetings, day or night, as needed.
- Lead the development of marketing materials, proposals, or presentations to generate new work opportunities.
- Prepare and/or monitor budgets and work in progress for specific projects or tasks.
- Prepare scoping documents, pricing, fee estimates, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
- Develop contract agreements and probable construction cost estimates for projects for approval by the Department Manager.
- Oversee schedules and budgets for projects, including forecasting staff workloads and monitoring work task hours.
- Provide QA/QC for assigned projects; may provide quality reviews for projects assigned to others.
- Other duties as assigned.
A valid driver’s license and travel (approximately 25%) will be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in architecture from an accredited college or university.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Architectural license is required.
Qualifications
- 15 or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Experience providing bidding and construction administration phase services.
- LEED AP, WELL Accredited Professional, or Guiding Principles Compliance Professional.
- Experience with state and local government projects.
- Experience with aviation facility projects is a plus.
- Experience or familiarity with generative AI-driven tools, platforms, or systems (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to enhance productivity, automate tasks, and reduce errors.

Pay
Salary Range: $105,000 to $147,000. Actual compensation may vary due to experience, skill set, or location.
