Senior Project Architect

About the role

Join PM Group’s growing Boston-area team in Burlington, MA. This senior-level position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects for Pharmaceutical, Biologics, and Cell & Gene Therapy manufacturing facilities—from feasibility through qualification—for both local and international clients. The role involves client interaction, technical design, and leadership in delivering projects that improve lives globally.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee architectural designs and drawings executed within the office.
• Lead architectural design on specific projects as the Architectural Lead.
• Deploy architectural design following PM Group Design Quality Management Systems.
• Prepare resource plans and work-hour estimates.
• Maintain strong client relationships to attract, win, and deliver projects.
• Provide leadership to the team, communicate goals, and set performance expectations.
• Recruit and develop personnel.
• Participate in proposal and business development activities.
• Support Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
• Liaise with other office disciplines and Group Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as needed.
• Champion Health & Safety in design and construction.
• Mentor Junior, Mid-Level, and Senior Architects.
• Support Multi-Office Execution (MOE) capability.
• Participate in all phases of the design lifecycle.
• Estimate and scope the architectural elements of projects.
• Refine interaction with other disciplines.
• Build positive client relationships to secure future projects.
• Ensure technical quality of discipline deliverables, including checking, calculations, and software use.
• Develop tools, procedures, and standards to enhance the discipline.
• Handle other special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• 15+ years of professional experience leading large-scale life science, laboratory, and tech projects for multinational clients.
• Degree in Architecture or equivalent.
• Architectural licensure in practicing states (NCARB Certification is an advantage).
• Experience in the life sciences, laboratory, and/or high-tech sector in the USA, including planning, designing, building, and validating modern Laboratory, cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, Vivarium, and Office spaces.
• Understanding of modifying existing legacy facilities, greenfield projects, and current trends in life science manufacturing, including sustainability and innovation.
• Experience with master planning of Greenfield and Brownfield sites.
• Strong interpersonal and coordination skills to lead multi-disciplinary A&E teams.
• Detailed knowledge of planning legislation, USA building regulations, and Health & Safety legislation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and its suite of design software; skills in SketchUp (or Rhino), Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite are advantageous.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cGMPs, R&D, Development, and QC Lab planning.
• Self-motivated with a reliable, consistent, and mature approach to work.
• Ethical approach to safety, quality, environmental protection, and business.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and peers at all levels, with strong presentation skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $140,000 – $190,000 annually. The actual compensation offered will depend on factors such as work location, qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
