About the role
We’re seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Accountant to support the financial success of our land development projects through strategic financial management, reporting, and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned land development projects, overseeing all financial activity, ensuring alignment with company goals, and reporting standards
- Manage and maintain comprehensive job cost records
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly financial statements for land projects and related entities, providing variance analysis and actionable insights to management
- Lead preparation and processing of construction draw requests; coordinate with lenders, joint venture partners, and community development districts (CDDs) to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- As assigned, prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Review and authorize purchase orders and contract setups, validating alignment with project budgets, reimbursement structures, and government or district requirements
- Collaborate with land managers and project leadership to develop, monitor, and update project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow schedules
- Prepare detailed supporting documentation for annual audits and serve as the point of contact for external auditors on land-related matters
- Oversee for journal entries, check requests, deposits, and other financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures
- Identify process improvement opportunities within land accounting operations and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- General ledger experience, knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and their proper application to business transactions
- Highly detail-oriented with good organizational skills
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive data with discretion
