About the role

Arcora Foundation is dedicated to improving health equity by partnering with communities to prevent oral disease, transform health systems, and increase access to dental care. The Foundation’s long-term vision is that all people can enjoy good oral and overall health, with no one left behind.

This position serves as the clinic director responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of the SmileMobile program — a mobile dental clinic staffed primarily by contracted clinicians, volunteer dental professionals, and administrative staff. The program operates 30–32 clinics annually, each averaging 1–2 weeks in duration, across the state of Washington.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate relationships with local communities, nonprofit organizations, healthcare organizations, and local health jurisdictions across Washington, prioritizing areas and communities furthest from health equity, to understand oral health care needs and ensure the SmileMobile program increases access where it is needed most.
  • Lead and manage clinic operations, including scheduling clinics; supporting logistics coordination; ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local licensing requirements; ensuring security and accuracy of patient and services data in the electronic dental records system; and proactively managing the SmileMobile budget and contracts.
  • Oversee service delivery, assuring provision of high-quality, culturally relevant services in a safe and effective manner, and supporting referrals for additional care and education to meet patients’ health goals.
  • Lead and manage the team of FTE staff, volunteers, and contractors (dentists, hygienists, assistants) and drivers who deliver the van, including recruiting, contracting, ongoing training, and managing work schedules to ensure full staffing during clinics.
  • Lead and manage training of dental therapy and dental students to ensure successful community rotations and preceptorships.
  • Engage with staff and external partners to identify community-driven approaches to eliminate oral health disparities; partner with key collaborators to develop performance indicators to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Oversee maintenance and safety of the SmileMobile, including regular servicing, roadworthiness, equipment and supplies management, infection prevention and control policies, and emergency preparedness plans rehearsed with the team.
  • Represent the Foundation to various audiences and prepare and deliver presentations as needed.
  • Promote a culture of learning, equity, and collaboration across all areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deepen relationships with tact and professionalism, working effectively and respectfully with diverse individuals and communities across educational, political, ideological, cultural, and geographical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and overseeing clinical operations that increase access to high-quality, culturally responsive care for patients who identify as Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.
  • Demonstrated success in building local support for program goals aligned with the Foundation’s objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing clinical workflows and electronic health records (e.g., Dentrix Ascend), with a strong record of ensuring staff, contractors, and volunteers adhere to infection control standards and state and federal regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate information verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in strategic operations, organizational effectiveness, or project management, with the ability to connect strategy, performance management, and organizational learning.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and projects, troubleshoot, meet deadlines, and complete work with minimal direction.
  • Experience leading diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies and activities.
  • Deep commitment to equity and alignment with the Foundation’s mission and the vision shared with Washington Dental Service.
  • Bachelor’s degree or four years of relevant professional experience.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • 8% 401(k) match.
  • Vacation and sick time accrual starting from the first day of employment.
  • Tuition reimbursement plan.
  • Professional development plans.
  • Employee-led communities.

Pay

The pay range for this position in Western Washington is $92,900 – $145,700.
