About the role

As a Functional Compliance IC, you serve as a domain expert establishing standards to ensure compliance across gUP. You navigate complex regulatory requirements, bridge business goals with compliance obligations, and build scalable frameworks for ambiguous compliance problems. In gTech Users and Products (gUP), our mission is to advocate for Google’s users by creating helpful and trusted experiences across the product ecosystem. We achieve this by meeting partners and consumers where they are with support and help, representing their needs with our product partners and proposing fixes and features that elevate their engagement with Google's diverse product ecosystem. Additionally, we provide a range of product services that ensure our products are optimized for every user, no matter where they are in the world (e.g., localization, digitization, partner integration and more).

Responsibilities

  • Own individual Enterprise Compliance Priorities (ECPs), defining project-level scope and ensuring global support operations are integrated into corporate frameworks.
  • Implement regulatory obligations into workflows, ensuring regulatory readiness is achieved.
  • Advise on the delivering and maintaining compliance, ensuring external obligations are upheld.
  • Build and maintain assurance capabilities and controls to drive ongoing compliance and ensure the organization is consistently prepared for mandatory internal and external audits.
  • Deploy applied AI solutions to enhance the effectiveness of our compliance operations.
  • Act as a bridge between product counsel, regulatory affairs, RCI, legal, and operations.
  • Advise teams on optimal ways to deliver and maintain compliance, ensuring external obligations are upheld while advocating and protecting the user support experience.
  • Author, deploy, and maintain robust policy frameworks and operational compliance standards.
  • Proactively identify compliance gaps and pain points in existing workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration with multiple teams.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to independently own and deliver large-scale, cross-functional initiatives (such as regulatory implementations) under strict enforcement deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with a track record of acting as a trusted consultant to executive leadership and guiding cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and experimenting with emerging AI capabilities to improve efficiency in a risk and compliance context.

Pay

US: $164,000 - $239,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.
