About the Role

Under the guidance of the Branch Director, this position oversees the development of staff, programs, finances, and daily operations of the branch. The Senior Program Director acts as a liaison to the community, advocating for YMCA programs and events, and provides support to the Branch Director for all branch needs. An average of 50 hours per week is expected for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Development
    • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and manage high-performing staff focused on providing exceptional service and sports expertise.
    • Develop strategies to support and motivate staff for achieving program goals and retention.
    • Review and evaluate staff performance.
    • Maintain staff retention through positive reinforcement and support.
    • Conduct monthly documented staff meetings, development, and trainings.
    • Ensure staff certification records are current and fulfill all in-service standards.
  • Program Operations
    • Ensure all programs comply with YMCA standards and methods of operation.
    • Develop, implement, and manage high-quality and safe programs with continual participation growth.
    • Recruit for full participation in all programs, tournaments, camps, and clinics.
    • Integrate customer-service and engagement strategies into programs and services to ensure retention and positive feedback.
    • Use Personify and Team Sideline to maintain accurate records for registration, schedules, communication, recruitment, and retention.
    • Monitor and evaluate program delivery and staff effectiveness for the highest possible quality.
    • Maintain visibility in the Court Center during programming, tournaments, and rentals.
    • Respond to all member and community inquiries and concerns within 24 hours.
    • Communicate program information, performance, changes, and needs to the Branch Director in a timely manner.
  • Child Abuse Prevention
    • Adhere to boundary policies, attend required training, and report concerns.
    • Follow mandated reporting policy and fulfill job-specific responsibilities such as maintaining and securing unused areas.
    • Ensure proper sign-in/out procedures.
  • Fiscal Management
    • Monitor and manage the budget regularly to meet and exceed targets, including increased revenue season after season.
  • Strong Community Campaign/Financial Development
    • Provide input, engagement, and leadership for the Strong Community Campaign, special events, and other fund development to ensure fundraising goals are met.
  • Facilities
    • Maintain familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
    • Keep the Farha Andover Court Center orderly, clean, and safe; report irregularities to the Branch Director and follow preventive maintenance schedules.
    • Conduct multiple daily walk-throughs.
    • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Other Duties
    • Serve as a member of the branch leadership team, supporting the overall success of Farha Sports Complex operations.
    • Communicate information promptly to all Farha Andover Court Center staff.
    • Attend applicable training and conferences for professional development.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Impact

Provide leadership and guidance to ensure the achievement of goals and objectives for the Farha Andover Court Center, with high levels of participation, satisfaction, and retention of participants and staff.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
    • 5 years of experience in youth program development and management.
    • 5 years of experience and proven success in hiring, managing, training, and developing staff.
    • 5 years of experience in budget development and management.

    • Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision, and values.
    • Attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire.
    • Complete CPR/AED, First Aid, O2, and Listen First Workshop in accordance with Conditions of Employment.
    • Possess a clear and complete understanding of exercise science principles and the ability to apply them in a practical wellness atmosphere.
    • Learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the Farha Sports Complex.
    • Understand and abide by all policies and procedures set forth by the association.
    • Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch, including evenings and weekends.
  • Essential Functions / Physical & Mental Requirements
    • Routinely perform physical activities such as climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching with hands, sitting, standing for extended periods, walking, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity for detailed tasks.
    • Ability to lead, delegate, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Possess problem-solving, organizational, and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
    • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and alertness.
    • Demonstrate initiative in the absence of supervision.
    • Relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner.
    • Work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently, and lead by assigned goals, duties, and deadlines.
    • Ability to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
    • Present a neat and professional appearance at all times.
