About the role

The Department of Children and Families seeks a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Child Welfare Specialist. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children in foster care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits and assessments to evaluate the suitability of potential foster homes
• Provide counseling and support services to families involved in child welfare cases
• Develop and implement case plans for children in foster care
• Coordinate with other agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive care for children
• Participate in court proceedings and advocate for the best interests of the children

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in child welfare or related field
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients and families
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of child development and family dynamics
