About the role
The Department of Children and Families seeks a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Child Welfare Specialist. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children in foster care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct home visits and assessments to evaluate the suitability of potential foster homes
- Provide counseling and support services to families involved in child welfare cases
- Develop and implement case plans for children in foster care
- Coordinate with other agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive care for children
- Participate in court proceedings and advocate for the best interests of the children
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in child welfare or related field
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients and families
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of child development and family dynamics
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with case management software
