Senior Production Underwriter

Responsibilities
- Inforce Portfolio Management and Underwriting Execution:
- Handle new and renewal underwriting, selecting risks in line with Berkley Luxury Group’s strategy and guidelines.
- Operate within designated authority, follow documentation guidelines, and close new business.
- Plan and budget for the book of business, track performance, and report against plan.
- Develop a clear view of market conditions and competitive landscape.
- Provide guidance to other underwriters and functional areas.
- Monitor production, hit ratios, renewal retention, spread of risk, and other quality measures.
- Stay current on state/territory issues, regulations, and trends.
- Broker Relationships and Business Development:
- Develop trusted, lasting relationships with agent partners through regular interactions.
- Track progress and position Berkley Luxury Group within agencies.
- Evaluate assigned agencies to ensure alignment with company and agency goals.
- Participate in agency reviews and make recommendations on management issues.
- Communicate corporate goals, programs, policies, procedures, and best practices to agents.
- Prepare quotes, answer questions from agencies or policyholders, and escalate issues as needed.
- Negotiate with agents to achieve profitable outcomes.
- Deliver exceptional, timely, and accurate service.
- Collaborate with agents to craft optimal solutions for clients.
- Notify brokers of adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, requirements, status, and declinations while underwriting empathetically.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent job-related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience.
- Demonstrated technical underwriting expertise and product-specific knowledge (Property, Liability, Auto, and Umbrella).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proven proficiency in sales and marketing.
- Solid knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize competing demands, and work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

- Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 (actual salary determined by scope, complexity, location, skills, education, and experience).
