About the Role

A Senior Production Technician produces cannabis products using various tools, equipment, and small machinery while adhering to safety, quality, and productivity guidelines. This role also involves training new employees and utilizing seed-to-sale and internal reporting systems to track products and KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Safety:
    • Follow all department-specific safety practices, including the use of PPE.
    • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the work area, supporting all 5S requirements.
    • Remain compliant with all safety training requirements.
    • Report safety concerns, including near-miss situations, promptly.
  • Production:
    • Perform producing, filling, packaging, labeling, sealing, and other duties to prepare products for sale.
    • Increase operational efficiency and reduce waste through ownership, teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
    • Work in a fast-paced environment to meet productivity standards.
    • Follow SOPs and work instructions to complete tasks according to company standards.
    • Work efficiently and strive to increase productivity consistently.
    • Ensure compliance with company and state requirements.
    • Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Quality & Compliance:
    • Utilize seed-to-sale and internal systems to track product movement, production, waste, quality, and other metrics.
    • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to improve and promote quality.
    • Perform in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and visual inspections to ensure products meet specifications.
    • Ensure 100% compliance with weighing, data recording, product tracking, and security protocols.
    • Label and record inventory data accurately.
    • Follow all food safety, GMP, and facility/department requirements.
  • Training:
    • Train new employees on department-specific SOPs and work instructions.
    • Provide input and feedback to leads/supervisors on new employee performance.
    • Sign off on required training paperwork.
    • Build positive relationships and demonstrate strong communication skills.
    • Provide retraining as required.
  • Teamwork:
    • Participate in daily communication meetings.
    • Escalate issues to leads, managers, or HR as appropriate.
    • Create a positive working environment.
    • Escalate areas of process improvement.
    • Perform additional tasks assigned by managers or leads.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or certifications preferred.
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work well with others and complete individually assigned tasks.
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and lift equipment or plants up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.
  • Ability to work in an environment with temperatures of 85+ degrees and 70% humidity for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Excellent customer service, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Prior cannabis experience not required.

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be approved by the state badging agency to work in the cannabis industry.

Working Conditions

  • Regularly perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must sit and/or stand for extended periods while maintaining focus.
  • Must lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds with extreme care and caution when handling product.
  • Daily exposure to allergens such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil.
