Senior Product Marketing Engineer
About the role
At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results.
Snowflake product marketers develop and execute go-to-market strategies for the most strategic areas of the business. We are looking for a highly technical, driven, and self-motivated Product Marketing Engineer to lead competitive benchmarking for Snowflake’s Analytics portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own the technical benchmarking strategy for Snowflake’s Analytics portfolio.
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Product Marketing to identify priority products, features, workloads, competitors, and customer scenarios for evaluation.
- Design rigorous benchmarking methodologies, testing scopes, workload definitions, success criteria, and validation processes.
- Contribute to the architecture, development, and ongoing improvement of a scalable and repeatable benchmarking platform.
- Configure environments, execute benchmark tests, troubleshoot technical issues, analyze results, and validate findings with engineering and product stakeholders.
- Ensure that benchmark methodologies and conclusions are accurate, reproducible, transparent, and defensible.
- Evaluate products and capabilities that may still be under development or have not yet been publicly released.
- Translate complex technical findings into clear customer outcomes, business value, and differentiated product messaging.
- Create compelling technical content, including Snowflake blogs, partner blogs, benchmark reports, presentations, sales enablement materials, demos, and videos.
- Present benchmarking methodologies and results to internal teams, customers, partners, analysts, and broader technical audiences.
- Monitor competitive analytics products, architectural developments, performance claims, product launches, and published benchmarks.
- Develop timely and thoughtful responses to competitive benchmark claims, working closely with Product, Engineering, Competitive Intelligence, Communications, Legal, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Build a strong internal point of view on competitive performance, architectural differentiation, and the strengths and limitations of different benchmarking approaches.
- Provide benchmark-driven insights to Product Management and Engineering that help inform product improvements, roadmap priorities, and future product direction.
- Enable Sales, Solutions Engineering, and partner teams to confidently communicate Snowflake’s technical differentiation.
- Establish measurement and reporting processes to evaluate the reach, influence, and business impact of benchmarking programs.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in product engineering, performance engineering, technical product marketing, competitive engineering, solutions architecture, data engineering, or a related technical role.
- Strong understanding of modern data platforms, cloud data warehouses, analytics engines, and business intelligence architectures.
- Hands-on experience designing and executing technical benchmarks, performance tests, workload comparisons, or competitive product evaluations.
- Experience working with SQL, data modeling, query performance analysis, workload management, and large-scale analytical systems.
- Ability to design fair, repeatable, and technically defensible testing methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate unexpected results and distinguish product behavior from configuration, architecture, or testing issues.
- Ability to collaborate deeply with Product Management and Engineering teams on highly technical products and features.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts without losing accuracy or credibility.
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical capabilities and performance results into customer outcomes and differentiated business value.
- Experience creating technical content for external audiences, such as blogs, reports, presentations, demos, webinars, or videos.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Ability to manage multiple benchmarking initiatives and respond quickly to changing market and competitive priorities.
- Comfort working with confidential products, unreleased features, and sensitive competitive information.
- BS or BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
