Senior Product Developer - Women's Active/Specialized - Seattle, WA (Hybrid)
About the role
Join the Nordstrom Product Group (NPG), a team shaping the styles and looks that Nordstrom customers love. We are seeking a Senior Product Developer to lead the development of our activewear - Nordstrom-owned private label product.
Responsibilities
- Develop products with increased style count in breadth and/or scope, meeting cost standards and reviewing prototypes for quality, brand aesthetic, and design intent.
- Meet product development milestones and calendar due dates with pre-production tracking and reporting (prototype, color, sample yardage, testing, etc.).
- Lead negotiations with vendors throughout the product lifecycle, including costing, time and action, minimums, etc.
- Lead and mentor other product developers within the brand team through product development, calendar milestones, sourcing strategy, and adoption reporting.
- Place developed and adopted styles in accordance with the Sourcing Strategy and provide ongoing recommendations for evolution.
- Analyze and leverage company reports to review business, category needs/trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in product development, design, or production in garment manufacturing (3 of these years preferred experience in Activewear Brands)
- Knowledge of raw materials and garment construction specific to Activewear Product Categories
- Experience working and communicating with domestic and international manufacturers
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills working with multiple leadership levels
- Ability to provide leadership, supervision, and direction to peers through the development process
- Ability to demonstrate capabilities through a costing exercise
- Proficiency in Excel and Outlook
- Familiarity with a Product Lifecycle Management system, preferred
Qualifications
- Strong negotiation skills
- Partner with internal teams including Merchandising, Design, and Technical Design, along with a network of external vendor partners
- Build products that meet cost and quality standards
- Identify potential Raw Materials/Sourcing opportunities for efficiency and speed
- Identify root causes and process improvement opportunities
- Provide costing rollups for brand or classification at final cost
- Analyze and leverage company reports to review business, category needs/trends
