Responsibilities
- Audit existing product-line-specific Figma libraries, then lead the migration to a component system that lives in code with tokens as the source of truth
- Build and maintain LLM-readable system documentation, accessible to designers, engineers, and Claude
- Own the context layer: structured prompt libraries, MCP server integration, and system artifacts that keep Claude producing consistent, on-brand, accessible output
- Establish governance that accounts for AI-generated code, not just human-authored contributions
- Track and report on system health metrics tied to business outcomes: product velocity, cycle time, and features shipped, alongside coverage and adoption
- Lead the design of Momentus' AI interaction patterns as the primary design surface, covering non-deterministic outputs, trust and transparency, agentic workflow UIs, and progressive disclosure of AI behavior
- Create reusable patterns for supporting surfaces: onboarding flows, reporting and analytics interfaces, and dashboards
- Partner with Engineering to define token architecture, component APIs, and the front-end structure that makes the system scalable and AI-agent-consumable
- Collaborate with Product Management to sequence system work against the AI-first product roadmap
- Elevate design team capability through pairing, critique, and informal mentorship across all product lines
Standards and Quality
- Define and uphold visual and interaction quality standards across all product lines
- Champion accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA, using AI tooling (automated audits, contrast checks, alt-text generation) to accelerate compliance rather than treat it as overhead
- Contribute to design reviews with feedback grounded in system standards and AI-first principles
- Own annual VPAT generation across all product lines, coordinating with Engineering and QA to assess conformance, document findings accurately, and publish updated reports on a defined cadence
Tabitha Notes
- B2B enterprise SaaS background preferred; experience with legacy apps and messy UI
- Done a UI refresh: strong signal; not required
- High-quality Figma design system counts even though the role uses Claude
- Some hands-on Claude or AI tooling experience preferred; excitement to learn is enough
- Avoid pure startup candidates: building from scratch is easier; need someone who can mature a half-baked system
- No product-type preference beyond complex B2B UI
- Contractor experience acceptable if they built a design system for a complex, established B2B SaaS
- Demonstrated experience building or significantly maturing a design system in a multi-product B2B SaaS environment. Years of experience matter less than evidence of outcomes at scale
- AI-assisted workflows are your primary working mode today, specifically tools like Claude, Claude Code, and Claude Design. You can describe concretely what you shipped using them
- Comfortable producing shippable components and contributing to a shared component repo. You do not need to be a full-stack engineer, but you cannot treat code as someone else's problem
- Fluent in design tokens as a source-of-truth architecture, component APIs, and the front-end structures that make a system AI-agent-consumable
- Experience using Storybook (or similar tools) to document, test, and showcase components, ensuring design system consistency, discoverability, and usability across teams
- Experience designing AI interaction surfaces, including non-deterministic outputs, agentic workflows, or trust and transparency patterns
- Strong communication and documentation skills, able to write system guidance that is as useful to an LLM as it is to a human engineer
- Experience working in a remote, cross-functional environment
