About the role
The Senior Product Definition Checker supports the Mechanical Systems, Externals & Nacelles (MSEN) organization at Pratt & Whitney, ensuring that engineering models, drawings, and technical documentation accurately communicate design intent and comply with Product Definition standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and validate 3D models, engineering drawings, and product definition packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with engineering standards.
- Create and maintain parametric 3D models, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation using Siemens NX.
- Apply and interpret ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure manufacturability and design intent.
- Prepare engineering release packages, change documentation, and configuration updates using Teamcenter.
- Partner with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and other stakeholders to resolve product definition issues and support successful product releases.
- Mentor junior Product Definition professionals and promote best practices in quality, standard work, and continuous improvement.
- Travel Requirement: 10%
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree in Drafting/Design or in a related field with 7 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience includes experience in Product Definition, mechanical drafting, or engineering documentation, working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation, and/or experience creating or reviewing mechanical drawings and assembly documentation.
- Advanced proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD) and engineering change management.
- Aerospace or defense industry experience supporting mechanical systems or engine hardware.
- Knowledge of fuel, lubrication, air systems, bearing compartments, gear drive systems, or engine externals.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or technical coaching experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance.
