Senior Product Counsel
About the role
Figma's Product Legal team is growing! We are seeking a proactive, business-minded Senior Product Counsel to join our team. This role acts as a primary legal partner for our Product, Design, and Engineering (PDE) teams, helping them navigate novel, complex legal questions as our product releases accelerate.
Responsibilities
Partner directly with Figma's Product, Design, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to provide practical legal guidance on product development and go-to-market strategy.
Review product user experiences, disclosures, and external marketing and communications materials to mitigate legal risk while helping our teams achieve their goals.
Partner with cross-functional Legal teams (Commercial, IP, Regulatory) to ensure cohesive strategy and support.
Advises on legal issues relating to data protection, privacy, consumer protection, IP, and evolving AI-specific laws and regulations.
Develops and builds out the processes, resources, and scaffolding needed to help our team scale our legal guidance as our product releases accelerate.
Identifies and communicates emerging legal risks early in the product development cycle to enable faster, more confident decision-making.
Requirements
In-depth experience counseling on legal issues relating to technology, IP, privacy, data protection, consumer protection, and AI.
Proven ownership mentality, including hands-on engagement with product details, process-building from scratch, and independent prioritization.
A business-first, solution-oriented approach, including comfort making independent decisions and taking smart risks with imperfect information.
Demonstrated interest in AI and experience advising on AI-powered products or platforms.
Qualifications
Experience working in-house at a SaaS company.
Familiarity with using and advising on ML/AI products.
A technical background is a huge plus.

Pay
The annual base salary range for this role is $204,000—$317,000 USD. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
Schedule
This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
