Senior Product Counsel

About the role

Figma's Product Legal team is growing! We are seeking a proactive, business-minded Senior Product Counsel to join our team. This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with Figma's Product, Design, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to provide practical legal guidance on product development and go-to-market strategy
• Review product user experiences, disclosures, and external marketing and communications materials to mitigate legal risk while helping our teams achieve their goals
• Partner with cross-functional Legal teams (Commercial, IP, Regulatory) to ensure cohesive strategy and support
• Advises on legal issues relating to data protection, privacy, consumer protection, IP, and evolving AI-specific laws and regulations
• Develop and build out the processes, resources, and scaffolding needed to help our team scale our legal guidance as our product releases accelerate
• Identify and communicate emerging legal risks early in the product development cycle to enable faster, more confident decision-making

Requirements

• In-depth experience counseling on legal issues relating to technology, IP, privacy, data protection, consumer protection, and AI
• Proven ownership mentality, including hands-on engagement with product details, process-building from scratch, and independent prioritization
• A business-first, solution-oriented approach, including comfort making independent decisions and taking smart risks with imperfect information
• Demonstrated interest in AI and experience advising on AI-powered products or platforms

Qualifications

• 8+ years of legal experience & J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent)
• U.S.-qualified

Skills

• Experience working in-house at a SaaS company
• Familiarity with using and advising on ML/AI products
• A technical background is a huge plus

Pay

Annual Base Salary Range: $204,000—$317,000 USD
