About the role
The Senior Product Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring Trystar's electrical power solutions comply with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications. Reporting to the Engineering Director, this position oversees the compliance engineering team, manages testing and certification processes, and collaborates cross-functionally to integrate compliance into product design and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all Trystar products meet applicable standards, including UL, NEC, IEEE, CSA, and other regional regulations.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of compliance engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle, from design to manufacturing and deployment.
- Oversee testing processes, coordinate with third-party certification bodies (such as NRTLs), and ensure timely certification of products.
- Partner with commercial, engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality teams to integrate compliance requirements into product development and production processes.
- Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, prepare for audits, and address findings promptly.
- Identify and mitigate compliance risks related to product safety, performance, and regulatory changes.
- Stay updated on evolving regulations and industry trends, recommending process improvements to enhance compliance efficiency.
- Act as the point of contact for regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders on compliance matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or an equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in compliance engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership or people management role.
- Proven track record in electrical power systems, preferably in power distribution, conversion, or energy storage solutions.
- Experience working with UL, NEC, IEEE, CSA, or similar standards.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and team-building skills.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory documents and translate them into actionable plans.
- Proficient in testing methodologies and certification processes.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant software.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or an equivalent.

- Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in a research and new product development environment.
- Knowledge of standards such as UL1008, UL508(A), UL1691, UL489, UL924, UL1741, UL9540, UL891, UL50E, and others.
- Knowledge of NEMA 1, 3R, and 4X standards.
- Familiarity with governmental regulations such as TSCA, RoHS, REACH, and Conflict Minerals.
- Familiarity with US federal procurement regulations such as BABA, BAA, TAA, and Made in America.
- Understanding code differences from NFPA 70, 101, 102, 99, and others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage uncertainty and competing priorities in a fast-paced technology development environment; solid technical knowledge and understanding of product/process design.
- Ability to communicate with test engineers at high-power labs, NRTLs, and product design engineers to explain, to team-members, why a particular configuration will not work, and subsequently provide options enabling the sought certification without compromising the intended functionality.
- Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities.
- Certification as a compliance professional is a plus.
