Senior Process Server, prov. - Part-Time
About the role
This is a senior-level position in a legal environment responsible for personally serving subpoenas, summonses, and other essential legal documents by visiting respondents' residences or places of employment throughout the county.
Work also involves conducting interviews (including children and other persons as victims or witnesses) to obtain depositions for use in Family Court and to gather evidence to substantiate cases being prepared. In addition, the employee is responsible for executing Family Court warrants regarding juvenile delinquents.
Employees may encounter hostile and abusive responses and may be required to work evenings and weekends. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a senior-level legal employee. General supervision is exercised over lower-level staff members.
Responsibilities
- Personally serve subpoenas, summonses, and other legal documents.
- Conduct interviews with victims, witnesses, and children to obtain depositions for Family Court.
- Gather evidence to substantiate cases being prepared.
- Execute Family Court warrants regarding juvenile delinquents.
- Supervise lower-level staff members.
- Perform related work as required.
Requirements
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus one of the following:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State recognized college with an Associate's degree in criminal justice or police science plus two (2) years of paid full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in detective, police, or investigative work.
- Four (4) years of experience as defined above.
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of the above options.
Pay
$20.85–$27.51 hourly.
