About the role

Sub Same Day (SSD) Engineering is seeking a Senior Process Engineer with a strong delivery record and proven project management experience to own strategic and tactical, cross-functional operations and technology projects for SSD facilities. You will work with talented engineers globally to design, develop, and deliver physical distribution systems. This role involves leading initiatives and complex projects focused on building new, altering existing, or closing end-of-life material handling and technology systems. As a working leader, you will implement and deliver large system designs and advanced technology in ambiguous and complex problem spaces, integrating systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency. You will participate in the full system development lifecycle, including test plan execution and solution quality needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design processes: Develop new or modify existing processes, focusing on equipment, workflows, and material flow. Select and specify equipment to meet productivity goals and safety standards.
  • Analyze and optimize existing processes to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and minimize costs.
  • Ensure quality and safety: Develop and implement testing methods to ensure product standards, adhere to safety regulations, and investigate and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate and communicate: Partner with critical stakeholders to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency gains. Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Monitor and analyze: Monitor process performance, collect and analyze data for further improvement, and leverage data analysis techniques to understand process behavior and trends.
  • Utilize emerging technologies: Leverage process simulation tools to model and analyze processes, and research and implement new technologies to improve process efficiency.

A day in the life

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will work across organizations to solve complex problems and innovate on behalf of customers. You will engage in tactical and strategic problem-solving, drive efforts to optimize productivity, and prioritize high-impact projects. Strong communication skills will be essential when presenting findings to senior leadership. Your experience in root cause analysis will aid in implementing long-term solutions. Travel (50%) to sites will ensure practical outcomes align with theoretical designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Reliability Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience directly managing and being responsible for multiple large projects.
  • 5+ years of experience in material handling equipment (MHE) or automation environments, or in reliability/maintenance environments.
  • Strong technical background in automated or non-automated material handling equipment.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field.
  • Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma, and other operations engineering tools.
  • Experience building launch readiness frameworks, standard work, playbooks, and scalable deployment mechanisms across multiple concurrent sites.
  • Experience with performance metrics such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), downtime, throughput, or quality.
  • Experience in Amazon RME (Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering), fulfillment operations, or automation deployment environments.
  • Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $119,600.00 - $161,700.00 USD annually for locations in Bellevue, WA. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
