Senior Process Engineer

About the role

The Senior Process Engineer will support metal alkyl sites in the Business Unit Polymer Specialties, lead and participate in capex projects, and drive improvements in plant volume output, capacity, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The role is based in LaPorte, Texas, with occasional work at other global metal alkyl production locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement asset‑optimization options, including debottlenecking, capacity improvement, and OEE enhancement.
• Introduce new products, new processes, and process modifications on sites.
• Actively pursue technology improvements and identify new technologies.
• Collaborate with R&D to assess viability of proposals for site implementation.
• Participate in capex projects: develop process designs, contribute through study, BEP, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and start‑up phases.
• Serve as technology licensor, project leader, or lead process engineer on capex projects.
• Assist in commissioning and start‑up of large capex projects and act as CSU manager for smaller projects.
• Define and guide plant trials related to capex projects.
• Support sites in complying with HSE guidelines (process safety) and Technology Group standards, including evaluation/auditing of production units and storage areas.
• Participate as process engineer in Hazard Studies.
• Benchmark metal‑alkyl processes across sites and collect input from process and safety research for project development.
• Maintain internal contacts with production sites worldwide and external contacts with suppliers, authorities, and engineering firms.

Requirements

• MSc in Chemical Engineering (Bachelor’s degree with additional relevant experience acceptable).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant process engineering experience.
• Operational experience with batch liquid reactor systems.
• Proven experience as a process engineer on capex projects.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (average 10 % of time, with occasional longer trips).
