About the role
The Senior Process Engineer will follow all work instructions, equipment operating procedures, quality standards, and safety rules/guidelines while participating in a collaborative, team environment to achieve company goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance the performance of up to four production processes within the Production Unit.
- Interpret, learn, and quickly grasp Reaction Chemistry involved in all production processes.
- Identify and address production-related issues, generating continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collect, analyze, and correlate data for troubleshooting, addressing productivity, quality, equipment, and other issues.
- Define and implement necessary improvements based on findings from investigations.
- Conduct investigations into customer complaints, off-spec production, equipment failures, production process upsets, etc.
- Manage process improvement projects.
- Correlate final product quality with production processing data.
- Track production yields and perform mass balances.
- Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and statistical quality control (SQC) tools.
- Collaborate with various departments/stakeholders including Quality, Production Operators/Supervisors, Management, Warehouse, Maintenance, Sales, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
- 3+ years manufacturing experience in an engineering role
- 3+ years experience with root cause problem solving
- Experience with MOC/CAPA process
- Ability to conduct investigations (customer complaints, off-spec production, equipment failures, production process upsets, etc.)
- Ability to be taught and quickly learn common unit operations used in the chemical manufacturing industry
- Preferred: ISO9001 / EFfCI / GMP Production Experience
- PREFERRED: Experience with statistical process control (SPC)/statistical quality control (SQC)
- PREFERRED: Experience with chemical reactions, vacuum dryers, and powder handling/packaging operations
- PREFERRED: Working experience and/or knowledge of the following reaction chemistries:
- Batch Polymerizations / Oligomerization Reactions (Bulk, Emulsion, Free-Radical, Nucleophilic Substitution)
- Esterification and Trans-Esterification
- Hydrolysis Reactions
- PREFERRED: Working experience and/or knowledge of the following unit operations:
- Distillation Processes
- Filtration Processes - Cloth Filter Presses, Belt Filters, Rotary Dryers
