Senior Process Engineer

About the role

The Senior Process Engineer will follow all work instructions, equipment operating procedures, quality standards, and safety rules/guidelines while participating in a collaborative, team environment to achieve company goals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the performance of up to four production processes within the Production Unit.
• Interpret, learn, and quickly grasp Reaction Chemistry involved in all production processes.
• Identify and address production-related issues, generating continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collect, analyze, and correlate data for troubleshooting, addressing productivity, quality, equipment, and other issues.
• Define and implement necessary improvements based on findings from investigations.
• Conduct investigations into customer complaints, off-spec production, equipment failures, production process upsets, etc.
• Manage process improvement projects.
• Correlate final product quality with production processing data.
• Track production yields and perform mass balances.
• Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and statistical quality control (SQC) tools.
• Collaborate with various departments/stakeholders including Quality, Production Operators/Supervisors, Management, Warehouse, Maintenance, Sales, etc.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
• 3+ years manufacturing experience in an engineering role
• 3+ years experience with root cause problem solving
• Experience with MOC/CAPA process
• Ability to conduct investigations (customer complaints, off-spec production, equipment failures, production process upsets, etc.)
• Ability to be taught and quickly learn common unit operations used in the chemical manufacturing industry
• Preferred: ISO9001 / EFfCI / GMP Production Experience
• PREFERRED: Experience with statistical process control (SPC)/statistical quality control (SQC)
• PREFERRED: Experience with chemical reactions, vacuum dryers, and powder handling/packaging operations
• PREFERRED: Working experience and/or knowledge of the following reaction chemistries:
• Batch Polymerizations / Oligomerization Reactions (Bulk, Emulsion, Free-Radical, Nucleophilic Substitution)
• Esterification and Trans-Esterification
• Hydrolysis Reactions
• PREFERRED: Working experience and/or knowledge of the following unit operations:
• Distillation Processes
• Filtration Processes - Cloth Filter Presses, Belt Filters, Rotary Dryers
