Senior Principal Systems Security Engineer

About the role

BAE Systems seeks creative and innovative engineers with prior systems, hardware, or software engineering experience to safeguard the United States' most critical technologies. The ideal candidate will design security architectures, implement and test security countermeasures, and lead teams in developing sophisticated, defense-in-depth security solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design security architectures based on adversary threats and proposed countermeasures
• Implement and test security countermeasures according to U.S. Government guidance
• Work with S-SOTA technologies to provide customers with advanced security solutions
• Lead a team or section in designing and implementing innovative protection schemes
• Collaborate in-person with team members on projects requiring rapid technological evolution

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field plus 10+ years of work experience
• Understanding of systems engineering techniques and processes
• Additional critical skills include writing system requirements, defining system architectures, integrating hardware and software, validating and verifying solutions, and leading engineering teams
• Preferred experience includes cryptographic algorithm implementation, firmware development, secure coding practices, and Model-Based Systems Engineering

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team environment
• Knowledge of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) S-SOTA components
• Experience with security protocols and virtualization
• Strong communication and leadership skills

• Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices
• Proficiency in programming languages and tools relevant to the role
• Experience with threat modeling and risk assessment

Pay

Full-time salary range: $145,049 - $246,584. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications.
