About the role

This onsite position at Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a technical leadership role within the Secure Subsystems Engineering team. The Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Lead Systems Engineer will drive cryptographic capabilities and architect crypto systems, embedded within Scrum Teams to provide technical guidance, influence work backlog, and collaborate with Product Management to deliver solutions. This role contributes to systems and cyber security engineering for next-generation security-enabled mission computing, crypto, and cross-domain technologies, maturing products from low TRL through program accreditation and factory production.

Active and transferable U.S. government-issued SECRET security clearance is required prior to start date, and U.S. citizenship is mandatory. This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a Systems Engineering Scrum Team through design, development, integration, and test efforts.
  • Communicate with multiple levels of management, team members, software, firmware, hardware leads, and customers.
  • Interface with multiple Hardware and Software Scrum Teams to resolve dependencies and technical challenges.
  • Work with systems product owners and system leads to drive priorities, keeping budget and schedule at a strategic level.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the project team to identify and remove blockers, and mentor individual contributors for technical guidance.
  • Perform critical path analysis and collaborate with program leadership to manage tasks and workflow.
  • Monitor and assess project issues, escalate when necessary, and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals.
  • Provide support for proposals and bids using estimation tools.

Requirements

  • Experience leading and serving as a systems architect for programs over $30-50 million, including full lifecycle certification with the NSA for cryptography.
  • Experience operating as a Product Owner in an Agile Environment.
  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools.
  • Experience capturing customer requirements, design concept development, and deriving and tracing system and sub-system level requirements.
  • Experience with peer review processes, configuration, and change management.
  • Familiarity with bidding and project/task estimation tools.
  • Active and transferable SECRET security clearance required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience.

Pay

The salary range for this role is 145,600 USD - 276,800 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
