About the Role

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join the Strategic Communications Team. This role focuses on creating creative and cost-effective solutions for ground and airborne systems, specializing in advanced communication systems, ground and flight computers, sensors, cyber and software solutions, and Mission Systems integration.

The Systems Engineering department supports a variety of communications systems, including SATCOM (AEHF, EHF, X-Band, Ka-Band, Ku-Band, C-Band, and PTW), Line-of-Site (LOS) Radio Terminals, and Secure Switching Networks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of full lifecycle solutions from CONOPS to Validation.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert within the discipline with advanced to expert knowledge of the work area.
  • Oversee and perform lab activities, including definition, setup, configuration management, and testing.
  • Ensure Modeling, Hardware, and Software Interfaces utilize a scalable ontology.
  • Oversee and support the Integration of Solutions within their target environment.
  • Coach, review, and delegate work of lower-level professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of goals for the discipline and planning efforts (Cost and Schedule).
  • Influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Manage moderately sized projects or processes.
  • Manage the entrance and exit criteria of Design Reviews, Integration, Dry Run, and Formal Qualification Testing.
  • Review, moderate, and document major changes in systems or processes to solve complex problems.
  • Analyze and document system behaviors.
  • Support system trade studies, requirements analysis, and allocation to subsystems.

Requirements

  • Strong integration and test experience, including test procedure development, test execution, test reporting, and test automation.
  • Knowledge of or application of Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Proficient in tooling, including Microsoft products or tasking boards (Jira, IBM EWM, etc.).
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience in Communication Radio and Systems: SATCOM, LOS/BLOS, AEHF, PTW, or V/UHF.
  • Experience in Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT).
  • Proficient in tooling, including CAMEO or Rhapsody.
  • Experience in proposal support, including writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
  • Experience in System Level Integration, Verification, and Validation (IV&V) for ground-based, ship, submarine, or airborne platforms.
  • Experience in Virtual Machine design and deployment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and ability to effectively communicate with IPT leaders, hardware and software development engineers, specialty engineers, program managers, and customers.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $132,400 - $251,600 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels. Factors considered include role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
