About the Role

This opportunity is suited to a Senior Principal Instrumentation Engineer seeking a technically demanding position with leadership responsibility across instrumentation and controls engineering activities. The role offers the chance to deliver high-quality engineering work, support complex project execution, and provide technical direction within a multidisciplinary environment. A Senior Principal Instrumentation Engineer in this position will play a key part in ensuring engineering services are delivered in line with applicable standards, specifications, and project requirements.

This role is well suited to candidates with strong practical engineering capability, project leadership experience, and the ability to influence stakeholders effectively.

Role Context

The company is a recognized provider of engineering, procurement, and construction management services, with operations supporting domestic and international customer projects. This position sits within an instrumentation and controls engineering team working across multidisciplinary projects. The environment is technically focused and requires close collaboration with project stakeholders, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams. The role also includes leadership support for junior personnel and contribution to project delivery activities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instrumentation and controls engineering services in line with customer requirements and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Lead or supervise instrumentation and controls engineering activities on specific projects, including defining requirements, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress.
  • Participate in relevant project meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow required checking procedures.
  • Ensure project scope is clearly understood and that any changes are managed through the appropriate project change management process.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, including preparing requisitions, carrying out technical bid evaluations, and producing purchase orders.
  • Resolve discrepancies between company and customer requirements in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Support and mentor junior members of the instrumentation and controls engineering team.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering teams, project stakeholders, and customers, including delivering formal presentations where required.
  • Identify engineering issues, develop practical solutions, and seek support when necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments and technical innovations within instrumentation and controls engineering.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in a related field or applicable discipline, typically an engineering degree; or equivalent experience where permitted.
  • Power experience (required).
  • 10+ years of relevant discipline experience within instrumentation and controls engineering.
  • Experience working in a project leadership role.
  • Strong technical and practical engineering skills with a consistent ability to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality work.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience estimating project costs and contributing to proposal content.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification in the United States (desirable).
