Summary
This position is for a Senior Principal Engineer, AI/ML System Architect. As system architect, one will define the architecture of leading and competitive AI systems, lead new technology research, study market trends, customers interface, and lead Celestica’s design team in the AI/ML infrastructure space. Although the position is primarily hardware-based, the candidate must have strong knowledge in AI systems design including AI training and inference workloads and performance demands, as well as compute, connectivity, management, power, and cooling subsystems.
Detailed Description
- **Define Complex AI/ML Infrastructure Platform Solutions**: Define complex AI/ML infrastructure platform solutions and lead a multi-disciplined team to bring them to implementation. Ensure overall design quality metrics are met.
- **Develop and Maintain Close Technical Relationships**: Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.
- **Lead RFQ Technical Responses and Platform Concept Development**: Lead RFQ technical responses and Celestica platform concept development efforts as appropriate.
- **Provide Effective Trade-off Analysis and Competitive Guidance**: Provide effective trade-off analysis and competitive guidance to engineering teams and customers.
- **Deliverables Include**: Deliverables include System Requirements Documents (SRD), requirement compliance assessments, and Technical proposals.
- **Technical Interface**: Act as a primary technical interface between Celestica and our customers, particularly in technical escalations.
- **Support Business Development Teams**: Provide technical support to business development teams to assist in the winning of new business.
- **Select and Hire Design Team Resources**: Participate in the selection and hiring of design team resources as required.
- **Identify and Champion Process Improvement Efforts**: Identify and Champion process improvement efforts as needed.
- **Participate in Standards Committees and Industry Groups**: Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.
- **Prepare and Present Technical Presentations**: Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, trade shows, etc.
- **Maintain Current on Industry Trends**: Maintain current on industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- **Experience Architecting and Delivering Server/Storage/Converged Products**: Successful experience architecting and delivering server/storage/converged products to market.
- **Customer Presentation Skills**: Excellent Customer presentation skills. Interface and interact with large OEM customers on ongoing product-related issues and new product design concepts.
- **Broad Knowledge of Components**: Broad knowledge of current digital and analogue components.
- **New Product Introduction (NPI) Launch**: Successful New Product Introduction (NPI) launch.
- **System Level Power, Cooling, Mechanical, SW/FW and Electrical Design Integration**: Extensive knowledge of system level power, cooling, mechanical, SW/FW and electrical design integration and engineering trade-offs.
- **Industry Group Participation**: Prior participation in industry groups and associations is desired.
- **Integration, Interoperability and Test Experience**: System level integration, interoperability and test experience is desired.
- **Manufacturing Test Experience**: System level manufacturing test experience is desired.
Physical Demands
- **International Travel Required**: International travel required, approximately 4-6 trips per year.
- **Domestic Travel Required**: Domestic travel to support customer and internal meetings as required.
Typical Experience
- **Minimum of 15 Years Server and/or AI/ML Accelerator Hardware Design Experience**: Minimum of 15 years Server and/or AI/ML accelerator hardware design experience.
- **Minimum of 5 Years AI Infrastructure System Design Experience**: Minimum of 5 years AI Infrastructure system design experience.
- **Experience with Modern GPU Accelerators and Support Systems**: Experience with Nvidia, AMD, Intel, or other modern GPU accelerators and support systems.
Typical Education
- **BS in Electrical Engineering Required**: BS in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE preferred.
- **Advanced Studies Recommended**: Advanced studies in Business/Operations/Technology are recommended.
