Senior Practice Innovation Manager

About the role

The Senior Practice Innovation Manager plays a pivotal role in transforming how O’Melveny lawyers use AI, legal technology, research tools, and innovative ways of working to deliver exceptional client service. This is a visible leadership role, ideal for someone eager to help build and grow the firm’s practice innovation strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day work of the Practice Innovation function, set priorities, and align projects with firm, client, and practice group needs.
• Supervise Practice Innovation Attorneys and provide clear guidance, coaching, and feedback.
• Create and deliver group and one-on-one training that helps attorneys and business professionals use legal technology, AI tools, and better workflows in practical ways.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to practice groups on innovation projects, AI use cases, legal technology, and ways to improve lawyer productivity and client service.
• Represent the Practice Innovation team in client meetings and explain how the firm uses legal technology and AI tools effectively and responsibly.
• Support attorneys and business professionals through O’Melveny’s “AI as a Service” program, including help with use cases, prompts, workflows, and practical adoption.
• Review new legal technologies, AI tools, and service models, and identify practical ways they could help lawyers, clients, and the firm.
• Use research request data, practice group priorities, attorney feedback, and client needs to spot trends and develop useful training and innovation projects.
• Support other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

JD degree is required. Master’s Degree in information or data science, legal technology, or a related field is preferred. At least 4-6 years of experience as an attorney, legal researcher, practice innovation professional, or legal technology professional in a law firm, legal department, or similar legal environment is required.

Ability to lead teams, manage performance, build trust with stakeholders, and meet deadlines in a busy professional-services environment. Ability to create and deliver clear presentations and training for attorneys and clients on technology, innovation, AI, and practice tools. Strong knowledge of legal technology, AI tools, research platforms, and innovation trends, with the ability to explain them in practical terms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and accurately. Service-oriented, collaborative, proactive, and practical, with strong problem-solving skills and good judgment about confidentiality, privilege, ethics, and responsible AI use.

Benefits

The salary range in CA/NYC/DC for this role is $190,000 - $250,000 and represents the firm’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
