Provides tactical public and media relations guidance and support across the enterprise. Provides proactive external communications outreach execution, as well as 24/7 responsive communications to both routine and sensitive issues and crises, particularly at the community level.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to community strategy and message development for communicating about issues and crises with residents, families, associates, and media, and serves as spokesperson when appropriate.
- Partners with communities and with various Community Support Center teams in pitching positive stories.
- Promotes positive reputation of Brookdale through localized initiatives by identifying, creating content/writing, and positioning positive stories about Brookdale communities and providing media/PR support for the company's initiatives.
- Develops or assists in the development of publicity campaigns for the communities and for the company.
- Contributes to maintaining Brookdale's online newsroom presence and supports PR analytics, as needed.
- Operates as communications contact for community support, inside and outside of regular business hours in both positive and potentially adverse media situations.
- Provides crisis communications counsel to communities and interacts with local media during crisis situations, as appropriate.
- Develops messaging and talking points for media interviews; participates in and monitors interviews done by approved subject matter experts and corporate leaders.
- Reviews media monitoring results for trends and opportunities and recommends appropriate actions.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism or other related field required. Minimum 5 years of communications, employee engagement, or organizational development experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
