Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services & Systems division is seeking a Senior Power Systems Controls Engineer to join our industry-leading team. You’ll work closely with customers to deliver innovative, reliable, and efficient solutions that power critical infrastructure.

About the role

This is a hybrid role with approximately 50% travel throughout the Southeast Region of the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, test, and deploy software for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Data concentrators, Multi-function Protection Relays, Breaker Control Schemes, Generator Controllers, and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) for Automatic Power Transfer applications (Main-Tie-Main, Main-Gen, Main-Tie-Main-Gen, Generator Paralleling Switchgear etc.).
  • Quote general turnkey control schemes (analyze specifications, price all applicable labor and materials, write a proposed scope of work, etc.).
  • Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
  • Troubleshoot systems both onsite and remotely.
  • Select components and create bill of materials.
  • Provide sketches, mark-ups, and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of experience working with PLC programming and power distribution controls experience OR a high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of power distribution controls experience.
  • Current, unrestricted driver’s license along with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (role is designated as a Regular Driver per Eaton’s Driver Safety Policy).
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of one of the locations listed on the job posting (no relocation offered). Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton’s safety program and policy, including role-applicable portions of the EESS Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program and any required annual re-certifications.
  • Submit to periodic customer-required background and drug screenings.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience with power system controls.

Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of best engineering practices for design of automation systems, power management systems, human-machine interface software, PLC programming, etc.
  • Working knowledge of test equipment and diagnostic instruments for automation and power management systems.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting, test and repair techniques.
  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of all software packages relevant to successful performance of tasks.
  • Knowledge of parts, part masters, bill of materials.
  • Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with automation and power management systems.
  • Experience with HMI (Human Machine Interface) software and power monitoring software packages.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication/presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.

Pay

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 - $126,000 a year, with paid overtime and a company vehicle.
