Senior Power Systems Consultant
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Power Systems Consultant to join our Grid Software’s Power Technologies International (PTI) team. This role is responsible for performing advanced power system planning and integration studies for renewable and inverter-based resources, including large-scale simulation and analysis of electrical transmission networks. The position involves developing and executing steady-state, dynamic, and electromagnetic transient studies to support grid interconnection, compliance, and operational reliability for clients such as generation developers, independent system operators, and transmission owners.
Responsibilities
- Apply power system planning methodologies to model and analyze transmission system steady-state, dynamic, and transient performance.
- Perform generation interconnection and integration studies for conventional and inverter-based resources, ensuring compliance with utility, regional transmission organization, and grid code requirements.
- Develop, tune, and validate power system models (including generator, inverter, and control models) to meet study objectives and regulatory or interconnection requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting study assumptions, methodologies, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Collaborate within small project teams to deliver high-quality technical outputs while meeting project scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets.
- Develop and implement automation scripts to improve the efficiency, consistency, and accuracy of simulations and post-processing.
- Support proposal development by contributing to technical approaches, project plans, budgets, schedules, and resource estimates.
- Provide on-site technical consulting support and deliver specialized training to clients as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems
- 5+ years of relevant experience in the electric power industry as outlined below. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for professional experience if academic work included required studies and tools listed below.
- Candidate must have knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow, dynamic stability, and electromagnetic transients using PSS®E, TSAT, or PSLF.
- Great written and spoken communication skills in English are required.
- Ability to travel 10% domestically.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in Power System Consulting.
- Generation interconnection or operations experience in MISO, SPP, ERCOT, NYISO, ISO-NE, PJM
- Industry experience performing power system transient analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC or EMTP-RV

Details regarding our benefits can be found here. The pay range for this position is $83,966 - $143,942 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
