Role Description

Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join the Power Delivery team in USA. This Technical position involves coordinating/developing the Power System Planning & Study team, and performing HVAC and/or HVDC planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies, and systems analysis investigations for clients in North America primarily, but also globally.

Role Accountabilities

  • Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study & planning projects within regulated, non-regulated, developer, or other industrial clients
  • Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis, system impact study, reliability analysis etc.
  • Deliver accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summary and other client system study deliverables that meet industry standards and specifications and good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
  • Maintain close coordination and help other relevant Arcadis Business Units and Practices for cross-selling and cross-staffing opportunities.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of direct experience with experience in power system study analysis and planning
  • Must be proficient with the PSS®E, PSCAD and PSS/E software package, including load-flow, short-circuit and transient stability analysis
  • Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable
  • Familiar and experienced with key North American Market Operators (i.e. MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, model analysis, requirements and criteria as applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, especially related to bulk power systems
