Provides high quality sales and service to investment clients to deliver an exceptional client experience. Works collaboratively within the branch and the regional team as part of the client/relationship management solution.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical expertise for all aspects of investment management and administration to ensure compliance.
  • Identifies and makes referrals to other business groups as appropriate.
  • Develops internal and external networks and referral sources to grow business in the assigned portfolio/jurisdiction.
  • Enhances presence in the marketplace by collaborating with other experts to create integrated business development strategies.
  • Develops investment proposals and participates in meetings with prospects/clients.
  • Provides investment management, fiduciary expertise, and strategic leadership for business, products, and policies to investment professionals within the assigned portfolio/jurisdiction.
  • Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives based on an in-depth understanding of the business/group.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies.
  • May network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices.
  • Manages resources and leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals.
  • Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements, and develops roadmaps for strategic execution.
  • Helps determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Acts as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders.
  • Breaks down strategic problems and analyzes data to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Defines business requirements for analytics and reporting to ensure data insights inform business decision-making.
  • Coordinates the management of databases; ensures alignment and integration of data in adherence with data governance standards.
  • Monitors and tracks performance and addresses any issues.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Collects data needed for quarterly performance reporting and analyzes the performance of each mandate on the platform.
  • Develops and recommends model portfolios based on the statistical evaluation of risk, return, and correlations.
  • Prepares spreadsheets and reports with information about performance, portfolio summaries, and asset allocation targets.
  • Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Leads the development of communication strategies focusing on positively influencing or changing behavior.
  • Collaborates across BMO to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging to positively influence or change behavior.
  • Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.
  • Leads/participates in the management of governance meetings and maintenance of governing body mandates, oversight, and approval guidelines.
  • May provide specialized support for other internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees the design, development, and implementation of tools and training required to deliver business results.
  • Acts as the day-to-day contact for vendors; supports the implementation, maintenance, and sustainment of vendor solutions.
  • Leads/oversees the management of vendor relationships and provides guidelines for execution; ensures all agreements are met as per requirements.
  • Leads/supports contract negotiations with vendors, balancing cost, risk, and performance.
  • Leads/participates in the design, implementation, and management of core business/group processes.
  • Develops and manages a business/group program.
  • Reviews the program for effectiveness, considers industry trends, and recommends enhancements; makes changes as required.
  • Identifies business needs, designs/develops tools and training programs; may include delivery of training to audiences.
  • Performs sales and service support activities as required to meet client needs and maintain overall service levels.
  • Provides administrative support to team members and relationship managers, including regular communication with clients, investigating and responding to customer inquiries, preparing customized client reports, implementing portfolio re-optimizations, and verifying performance measurement reports.
  • Meets high-quality service standards to maximize relationship retention and growth.
  • Develops rapport and instills confidence with the client to build credibility and earn their trust.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders and ensures alignment between stakeholders.
  • Follows through on risk and compliance processes and policies to safeguard customers' assets, maintain their privacy, act in their best interests, and ensure an effectively run function.
  • Protects the Bank's assets and complies with all regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements.
  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and find solutions to complex and non-routine problems.
  • Implements changes in response to shifting trends.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Takes measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework in line with the approved Risk Appetite, making sound and risk-informed decisions that align with business strategy, protect assets, and adhere to applicable policies, laws, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • MBA or Finance certification preferred.
  • In-depth/expert understanding of portfolio management principles and asset mix determination.
  • In-depth/expert understanding of fiduciary law and applicability to trust investment accounts.
  • In-depth/expert knowledge of equity and fixed income markets.
  • In-depth/expert understanding of tax-related issues affecting investments.
  • In-depth/expert knowledge of the regulatory environment.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience, and industry knowledge.

Pay

Salary: $112,200.00 - $209,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
