Job Description

We are looking to hire a Senior Portfolio Management Assistant to support our healthcare hedge fund at Seligman Investments, part of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, an asset manager with over $600 billion in assets under management and administration. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing fund with an entrepreneurial spirit yet part of a highly established and reputable investment firm/ platform. The person who will be successful in this role will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, is a continuous learner, and is able to prioritize tasks for themselves and others. This is an opportunity to gain exposure to investing in biotech and the broader healthcare sector and experience at a hedge fund. You will make an impactful contribution to the success of the team and helping clients to achieve their investment goals.

How you’ll spend your time...

  • Work closely with several portfolio management teams to support the foundational aspects of portfolio construction and implementation, including:
  • Making sure the portfolio cash and holdings are monitored accurately,
  • Entering equity trade orders into investment systems,
  • Providing daily, monthly, and quarterly portfolio reporting,
  • Ensuring that portfolios align with client guidelines and applicable regulations,
  • Acting as the primary point of contact between portfolio management teams and internal business partners (Compliance, Operations, Technology, etc.),
  • Troubleshooting issues, leading portfolio management teams through operational and technological changes, and participating in platform implementation activity,
  • Responding to ad hoc requests from portfolio managers, including requests for portfolio analytics, transaction details, and market commentary,
  • Supporting due diligence activities across healthcare and biotech,
  • Creating and maintaining processes for the hedge fund team.

To be successful in this role you will have...

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience,
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple teams at multiple levels,
  • An interest in programming languages and an ability to quickly learn specialized investment systems,
  • An attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.

It would be great if you also had...

  • A demonstrated interest in science or healthcare,
  • An exposure to investing.

Pay & Benefits

Base Pay: The estimated base salary for this role is $76,700 - $90,000 per year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
