Senior Polysomnographic Technologst - Pulmonary (Sugar Land/Sweetwater)
About the role
The Sr Polysomnographic Technologist position at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is responsible for comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This role involves performing advanced duties including the scoring of sleep studies and preparing preliminary reports for physician interpretation. Additionally, the position conducts sleep studies, performs advanced and complex procedures, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Performs polysomnography and diagnostic and therapeutic services
- Completes sleep study reports after physician sign-off
- Trains and mentors other Polysomnographic Technologists and students
- Coordinates activities within the polysomnography department
- Serves as a resource for department-related needs
- Evaluates sleep study equipment and reports malfunctions
- Assists with safety initiatives and process improvements
- Documents patient care and polysomnography-related activities accurately
- Manages inventory and resources efficiently
- Identifies areas for innovation and improvement
- Participates in department committees and shared governance activities
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved education program
- Three years experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist
- BLS certification from AHA
- RPSGT or RRT-SDS certification from BRPT or NBRC
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an approved education program
- Experience: Three years experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist
- Licenses and Certifications: BLS certification from AHA, RPSGT or RRT-SDS certification from BRPT or NBRC
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers
- Competent computer knowledge and proficiency in multiple computer systems
- Independent work ability and handling challenging/difficult procedures and patient care situations
- Sound judgment and execution of above-average clinical skills
- Strong interpersonal and team player skills
- Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision
